BIOGRAPHY

Cashton McGillivray - duckbagtm

Counter-culture practices and offbeat artwork differentiated Cashton during his upbringing in rural Alberta. Playing the drum kit from the age of 9, music was a persistent presence in his life. Always sketching, creating board games, or designing some new oddity - the need to create is his most powerful and motivating force. An interest in aesthetics, ethics and philosophy influenced his endeavors. Seeking artistic opportunities, Cashton relocated to Victoria, BC in 2013 to attend the University of Victoria. Since then, Cashton has performed on kit with various groups, solo DJ acts across multiple cities, and as a percussionist for various University ensembles. Among his creative focuses, none have matched Composition - Cashton's repertoire of instrumental music includes many small ensemble percussion works, quartets, solos and multimedia presentations.
